MTN Ghana declares $205m+ dividend in 2024

MTN Ghana has announced a dividend payout of GH¢3.176 billion ($205m) to its shareholders for the 2024 financial year, following a recommendation by its board.

The telecom giant proposed a gross final dividend of GH¢0.24 per share for the period ending December 31, 2024, subject to approval by shareholders. This follows the company’s strong financial performance, with a recorded profit of GH¢5.028 billion in 2024.

According to MTN Ghana’s 2024 Audited Financial Report, all dividend payments will be subject to the necessary tax deductions. The number of ordinary shares in circulation at the time of declaration stands at 13,236,175,050.

The company stated that shareholders registered in the books of Scancom PLC by the close of business on Thursday, April 4, 2025, will qualify for the final dividend. The ex-dividend date has been set for Wednesday, April 2, 2025, meaning investors who purchase MTN Ghana shares before this date will be entitled to the dividend, while those who buy on or after April 2 will not qualify.

The final dividend will be disbursed electronically to shareholders’ bank accounts or mobile money wallets on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, for those who have opted for these payment methods.
