Nigeria: First City Monument Bank appoints Taiwo Olufemi as Acting Head, Brand Management

First City Monument Bank, FCMB, has elevated Taiwo Olufemi, a versatile brand management expert, from his position as the Senior Corporate Brand Officer to the position of Acting Head, Brand Management.

While in his last position, Olufemi who has had over ten years of experience in marketing, media, advertising, brand strategy and brand management, is now fully in charge of managing and enhancing FCMB’s corporate brand reputation in the public’s eye alongside brand management team; ensuring brand communication for areas of responsibility are consistent with the company and brand positioning.

He is also driving profitable sales, brand growth and loyalty for a number of business areas via IMC platforms; developing and managing the Bank’s OOH strategy and sites for effective brand awareness, visibility and building brand equity as well as developing and implementing media strategies. The purpose of the appointment is to support strategic communication activities organized in partnership with the relevant campaign/product managers, among other projects.

Olufemi who has a chunk of his professional experience working for FCMB was part of the Bank’s re-branding exercise, the successful launch of FCMB Millionaire Promo Season 2 and season 3 campaigns among other achievements.

He commenced his professional journey in 2007 as a Media and Advertising Executive at an agency, MEC. He left after more than three years to join Young & Rubicam in 2011 as Senior Account Executive (Strategy & Media). He left the agency thereafter for a very brief stint with the Nigerian Bottling Company as a Corporate Communications Officer. He later moved to Total Marketing & Communications Account/Strategy Development Officer and Masters Energy Oil & Gas as Corporate Communications Officer before he began his career with FCMB as Corporate Brand Management Officer, in 2013.

In the course of his career, Olufemi has worked on brands and organisations such as Dangote, Briscoe/Toyota, LG Electronics, Zain Nigeria (now Airtel), Accenture, Classic Beverages, Vestergaard Frandsen, M-Tel, MRS Oil, among others.

He is an alumnus of Covenant University, where he acquired a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Advertising, and Applied Communication in 2007. He also holds a Master’s Degree from the prestigious School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University as well as a certificate from the Harvard Extension School from a Professional Development programme on Innovation and Strategy.
