Nigeria: UBA Onboards Chukwuma Nweke as Second Managing Director

Chukwuma Nweke has been appointed as the second Deputy Managing Director of United Bank for Africa (UBA). Prior to this, he held key positions as Executive Director of Retail & Payments and Chief Operating Officer.

Nweke is set to assume his new role as Deputy Managing Director on October 1st, according to a statement released by the financial institution yesterday.

As stated by Ramon Olanrewaju, UBA’s Group Head of Media and External Relations, Nweke will oversee IT and operations in his new capacity as Deputy Managing Director.

The announcement also clarified that Muyiwa Akinyemi, who has held the position of Deputy Managing Director since August 2022, will now focus on overseeing the bank’s Southern Operations.

Nweke is an alumnus of the University of Nsukka in Enugu State, where he earned both his accounting degree and a master’s in business administration. He also holds honorary memberships with the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
