Prez Akufo Addo, others honoured at the maiden edition of GPSCA

The maiden edition of the Ghana Procurement and Supply Chain Awards came off Friday, September 7 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra under the theme “Promoting Procurement Excellence in Ghana”.The maiden edition of the Ghana Procurement and Supply Chain Awards came off Friday, September 7 at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra under the theme “Promoting Procurement Excellence in Ghana”.

In all sixty(60) individuals and institutions were awarded for their contributions to the industry with President Akufo-Addo receiving the Outstanding Leadership Award for his “visionary leadership and flinching determination to transform procurement and supply chain thinking in Ghana”.

Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement, Sarah Adwoa Safo also received the Sustainable Procurement Transformation award.

In addition Prof. Douglas Boateng, Board Chairman, PPA was the recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award while Mr. A.B Adjei, CEO Public Procurement Authority was adjudged Procurement Man of the Year.

Chief Executive Officer of Instinct Wave, Organisers of the awards Akin Naphtal lauded President Akufo-Addo for establishing a procurement ministry in the country for the first time adding that there is the need to engage professionals to ensure that needed policies are put in place.

“The commitment has shown on procurement by establishing the first procurement ministry shows that the sector needs more awareness and committed efforts and they can’t do it without the professionals. It is when they are engaging the professionals that they can come up with the policy that can drive the industry forward.”
