USA: Burberry appoints Chief Financial Officer

Burberry, a British luxury brand has named Kate Ferry as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director for the company.

Ferry’s role is to be responsible for the company’s finance and business services functions and also become a member of Burberry’s board and executive committee, reporting to Chief Executive Officer Jonathan Akeroyd.

Succeeding Julie Brown’s position, Ferry will join the company in September with Ian Brimicombe, currently SVP, Specialist Finance and Projects serving as interim. Julie Brown will leave office on April 1, after six years of serving the company.

Ferry currently serves as the chief financial officer of McLaren Group, a company encompassing McLaren Racing and McLaren Automotive, where she has overseen financial strategy and investor relations and has supported the broader strategic development of the company over the past two years. 

Beginning her career, Ferry worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1998. She then moved to Merrill Lynch where she became a director within the retail sector equity research team, participating in numerous IPOs, including that of Burberry.

Ferry joined retail telecom group Carphone Warehouse PLC as corporate affairs director, after almost 10 years in banking and later became member of the executive committee following a multi-billion-pound merger.
