Kenya: Kingdom Bank inaugurates 22nd branch in Meru

Kingdom Bank has inaugurated its 22nd branch in Meru County, marking the third branch opening this year as part of its expansion drive.

The new branch is dedicated to supporting the vibrant agricultural community in Meru and its neighboring regions, aiming to serve as a catalyst for local business growth and development.

Speaking at the launch, Kingdom Bank managing director and CEO Anthony Mburu expressed his enthusiasm for the opening of the branch by saying, ” We are very excited to open our doors for business in the great county of Meru that is renowned for very productive agriculture and the business acumen of its people.

“We welcome you all to talk to us to assist us better understand and serve your financial needs.’

As a subsidiary of Cooperative Bank Group, Kingdom Bank is on an expansion mission to open more branches across various counties in Kenya. This initiative aims to offer small and medium-sized businesses the dedicated support they need to achieve their goals.

Since its acquisition from Jamii Bora Bank in 2020, Kingdom Bank has experienced significant growth. The bank has made a notable recovery, building an asset base of Sh36.7 billion and achieving net earnings of Sh655 million in 2023.

According to management, Kingdom Bank will continue to explore opportunities to open additional service outlets, in “carefully selected locations throughout the country.”

The lender has been instrumental in supporting MSMEs in key areas among them retail, agriculture and manufacturing.

The bank has a dedicated agribusiness unit that focuses on empowering farm input providers, farmers, food processors and distributors.

Speaking at the event, Godfrey Mburia, director of Cooperative Bank of Kenya warmly welcomed Kingdom Bank to the region saying, “We are honoured to have Kingdom Bank join our community.”

The branch is a significant boost for local farmers and entrepreneurs who are vital to the economy.

The new branch is located at the Ntima Building along Tom Mboya Street in Meru Town.
