Adeleye Falade has officially assumed office as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG), succeeding Philip Mshelbila, who recently took up the role of Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
The announcement was made in an official statement signed by Sophia Horsfall, General Manager of External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG. Falade took over leadership on April 1, 2026, at the company’s Corporate Head Office in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Falade brings nearly three decades of extensive experience in the global oil and gas industry, with deep expertise across the LNG and petroleum value chain. A significant part of his career was spent within the Shell Group, where he held senior technical and leadership positions in upstream and midstream operations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa.
His professional strengths include gas and petroleum operations, production optimisation, engineering, operational excellence, business improvement, and change management. He has managed complex multinational joint ventures and led diverse, multicultural teams in challenging operational environments.
In 2023, Falade was appointed Country Chair for Shell Namibia, where he provided strategic direction for the company’s operations and stakeholder engagement in the country.
Before his international assignments, he held key roles at NLNG. From May 2019 to September 2023, he served as General Manager, Production, with responsibility for production reliability, plant performance, and operational safety at the company’s world-class LNG facilities on Bonny Island. Earlier, he was Operations Manager at NLNG from July 2015 to May 2018.
Between May 2018 and April 2019, Falade served as Regional Asset Management System (AMS) Implementation Manager at Shell in The Hague, Netherlands, where he led the global deployment of asset management systems to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
